Upcoming Class Events:
Welcome to White Class!
White Class is a Key Stage 3 Class, and for most of our students this will be the start of their journey through the Secondary Department. There are currently 12 students in White Class, usually supported by 5 staff - all of our current students are in Years 7 and 8.
White Class students enjoy the half-termly thematic topics, and we make links to it whenever we can, including on our weekly trips. The students work on key literacy and numeracy skills regularly, as well as their personalised learning goals.
We encourage the children to develop their independence and sense of responsibility, both in class and elsewhere in school. Each student chooses a weekly class job every Monday morning, and we also help out with whole school jobs on Tuesday mornings. Several White Class students are also student councillors.
Our weekly trips are an opportunity to go out into the community and to link to the current topic in an interesting and varied way. We are keen to get involved in external events, and this year we have taken part in a table-cricket competition with other complex needs schools, and have had tennis coaching in preparation for a tennis competition.
Take a look at the gallery below to see what we’ve been up to in the autumn term:
Below you will find our Class Learning Overview from our most recent 'A Sensory World' topic:
We have created a 'Home Learning Support Sheet' for anyone in class who needs to access learning away from school at this time. On the sheet you will find activity ideas and links covering each of the school curriculum areas. For further support or information please contact your class teacher Alan in the first instance.
All of the adults are really missing the White Class students and have recorded this message to say hello!
