The Friends of Harford Manor School Association (Registered Charity No: 1013842) has been established for many years now, and is a thriving association. The group exists to support the work of the school and to encourage good relations between home and school. The Friends of Harford Manor School Association supports with special projects such as raising the £8,500 we needed to obtain a Variety Club Bus; helping provided a purpose built sensory room; and the complete re-design of our primary playground – our most recent project.
Our current project is to raise money for a collection to purchase communication aids, offering access to even more youngsters to these invaluable devices. This gives the school the opportunity to assess individual youngsters’ needs by trialling these systems, to help identify which device is best suited to the individual. For some youngsters this assessment of their communication means we can put together a case to ensure they have their own communication aid. Our target here is to raise £10,000.
In the very near future we hope to be raising money for the refurbishment of the school’s soft play area – plans for this project are already in progress.
Also, importantly, we organise social activities for our pupils and their families such as our annual BBQ, seasonal discos and social evenings. All monies raised by the “Friends” go directly to the benefit of the children and over the years we have raised many thousands of pounds.
